From the unreleased album City of Rain
Written 2015
This was to be the opening song of the eponymous album we were set to release before the break-up. The original idea was to have some rain and ambient sound start off the album. This was one of the only truly collaborative songs that involved everyone pretty evenly. I had the main riffs, everyone else contributed their parts and we jammed the middle section (which was originally to have a piano or synth solo). I didn't have a full set of Chris' lead vocals so I originally pulled what I had from a demo we did. Then I wound up getting in touch with Chris in 2019 and he came over and re-tracked a fresh set of vocals! John and Eevee helped with backing vocals.

Lyrics By Chris Leavell and Derrick Faith
Well I like the streets a little better this way
Covered in the rain.
This quick precipitation takes a dive
With a wicked infiltration so deprived
It’s raining and it’s pouring outside
So why aren’t you dancing?
Ride tides and run down alleys screaming your dreams to the sky
Inside they’re telling all the tales of days that they stayed dry
It’s raining down upon this city to dissolve our fears
You’ll stick around and realize the weathers better here
We see the truth when it’s not spoken
City of rain for draughts unbroken
Come alive
A fool’s time is worth as much attention he will pay
Frozen in his ways
We cross streets, so off beat to try and escape
Floods of disarray
This humid day it always lives
With a small consideration left to give
The burning ozone takes a hit
From a hateful sky
We’re so infatuated with the way it’s falling down
Tonight the mess we made had freed its day to hit the ground
It’s raining down upon this city for those flying high
Don’t come around to bring us down cause we’re not staying dry
We see the truth when it’s not spoken
City of rain for droughts unbroken
Come alive
There's no need to be a afraid
All the pain gets washed away in the city of rain
It doesn't bother me that these clouds have a touch of grey
As long as we're making waves in the city of rain
