An early runthrough of Jailbreak. This song was written in 2007. Here's how the story goes:
I ran into this tall lanky fellow playing some ridiculous slap bass in early 2007 at Mom's Music. I introduced myself and took his phone number. He informed me he was primarily a drummer. I was trying to start a band (having previously tried to form one with my ex girlfriend). This was Michael Homan. We jammed, first with him on drums (we actually ran through Doublespeak first). While he was incredible at drums, he was really into bass playing so I asked Jordan Hubbard (who now plays with Colin, lol) from a previous band I was in to play. Basically one day at practice, Michael said, "Hey, do you guys want to play a battle of the bands?” I shrugged and said something to the effect of "We don't really have any material.". “Well, I signed us up, and it's in 12 days.” This was maybe our 3rd practice. We had barely been a band. We did Panama by Van Halen and wrote this song through a jam. We came in 4th place out of 12. Jordan left shortly after. Then we auditioned a guy I worked with named Andrew Condra (who was later in Thank You Jade) who declined our invitation to join due to other obligations. I asked another dude I worked with who played drums, and he suggested his little brother Jeff. And there you go. Jeff and I worked together as well at a grocery store.
