From the unreleased album City of Rain
Written 2013
Guitar pro demo overlaid with demo vocals and Final Guitars, Bass, and Keyboards. Backing vocals added later.
Working Title: Battle Hammer

One of the few times the actual title makes LESS sense than the working title. This song was the only 7 string song by Two Sly Deuce that actually stuck. We wrote it in about two days. I was talking about how we used to have to write songs for Battles of the Bands. Like we didn't used to have enough material so it was like "quick throw something together" *cough* Jailbreak *cough*. We followed that idea, but at this point we were 6 years improved. The sitar and guitar unison line before the intro is annoying to play, but satisfying to play right. The solo is my impression of John Petrucci....but with like a messed up arm or something. Mitch Smith named the song, lol.

lyrics

Lyrics by Derrick Faith

I'm not here to help you
Only to destroy
Fight and build then break and kill
A presence to annoy

Winding through the hills
Sings a song best
left forgotten

A resurrection
To stave off warning signs
An insurrection
Of poorly drawn design

And fighting through fields
Of terror you know too well
Well,well

Breaking backs the sword you wield
Move faster
Rip the heart out of your chest
To placate all your masters

They are as far evolved beyond you
As we are them

A fleeting moment
Pure Of Hatred
Disappointment saturating

Broken arms that carry all
The world's fears
The sweat you taste
Holding back the tears
An introspective
Armageddon bye, "good riddance"

Follow all the steps and still be torn
But, find your strength and keep
Fighting on
And write the song
